But we're living in the moment still, baby. My mind if on today, not July 24th, as exciting as that day will be.
So the question is, what's going on the next two weeks?
Whelp, Pam is working four days this week; call it a marathon for her last week of nursing for a while. Even though she, unlike yours truly, does have a job waiting for her back home, she's not actually going back till around August 14th I think, so an extra large paycheck to end the month wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for her.
So that means I have like 40+ hours to myself this week, which is good and bad. Bad because, hey, I get lonely sometimes. Good though because I have a lot of time to wrap some Vegas-y things up before we leave. I have to go to Jack in the Box and Double Down one last time (by myself because Pam has had it up to here with those establishments). I have to start packing, which you know is gonna be left till Friday at 5 p.m., right? I have some episodes of Adventure Time to watch. I have some gym time to get in, because who knows when I'll have access to a gym next (though, to be honest, writing this blog is probably just me procrastinating about going for a run). And I have to start getting the maps and directions together for our drive home.
Not so fast though! We have at least two more fun nights here in Vegas before we leave on Sunday morning. Wednesday night we're doing a fancy dinner at the Stratosphere. We're talking shirt and tie, nice dress, fine wine, and extravagant bill. The room we dine in sits atop the Stratosphere and rotates as you eat, so you get a view of the entire city about every hour.
Saturday night we're going to take it easy, because the next day (week) will be a long one, but we do have some time set aside to walk the strip one more time, and eventually eat dinner at Nine Fine Irishmen, where we had our first Vegas meal at, as kind of a full circle thing.
And then we're hitting the road.
Here's our schedule for the drive home, which is now pretty much set in stone:
Sunday: Drive to Santa Monica (to see the Pacific Ocean), then Los Angeles (Super 8)
Monday: Remain in Los Angeles for the Phillies game
Tuesday: Drive to Phoenix (Red Roof Inn)
Wednesday: Drive to Las Cruces (camping)
Thursday: Drive to Houston (Motel 6)
Friday: Drive to New Orleans (Prytania Park)
Saturday: Remain in New Orleans (crawfish?)
Sunday: Drive to Atlanta (staying with friends)
Monday: Drive to Baltimore (staying with a friend)
Tuesday: Triumphant return to Philadelphia (cheesesteaks, beer, softball)
I'm excited.
But hey, we still have a week left here, and even though there's not much left, we're still going to make the best of every second we are here. Once in a lifetime, yo.
YOLO...right? RIGHT!?

ReplyDeleteHi Joe and Pam. Hope to see a couple more blogs. I'm going to miss them when you stop writing them. Looks like a great itinarary. I see your going camping. Where is Las Cruces? Arizona? Texas? Be careful, it didn't look like you had much camping equipment. Make sure you have a couple flashlights. I guess Pam had such a good time at Grand Canyon she couldn't wait to do it again. Anyway, New Orleans too, huh? Wow, sounds like fun.YOLO....right?
ReplyDeleteDad: Yes to everything except that last thing. I'll forget you typed that. Haha. Las Cruces is in New Mexico, and apparently the campsite is pretty beautiful (I have to call the site tomorrow to figure out details). We should be fine equipment-wise. We'll really be just getting there, setting up the tent, and going to sleep probably, not much else.
